CT NOW's Activist of the Month Award

For the last two years CT NOW has been awarding CT residents who are leaders for women's rights. I wanted to take time out in this blog to highlight these "Activist of the Month" recipients. Our award recipients range from people who are doing an extraordinary job in their positions at local non-profits and government agencies to teenagers who spend their spare time raising money for a cause that helps others better their lives.

The last few recipients have been very impressive. For our April award we chose Shannon Knall, who cares for an Autistic child while being a key leader in Autism Speaks and reaching out to legislators to get legislation passed. The May award went to Ellen Billard, who has been instrumental in getting legislation passed for low-income women and children. Our most recent award recipient for June was Olivia Baker. She is a thirteen year-old who has been fundraising since she was eight and continues to raise money for her Windham Area Interfaith Ministry's Walk for Warmth and sends donations to Africa with the help of her friends.

We will be announcing our July and August recipients soon and highlighting them regularly in CT NOW's quarterly newsletter. To read about all of our award recipients click here. If you have someone that you would like to nominate email Laura Bachman at LBachman32@yahoo.com.
