A new study by John Hopkins University shows that empowered women in control of households could loose out on sex. Published in the Journal of Sex in October, the study showed that women who are more dominant and assertive have 100 times less sex. This means that women who make decisions on their own instead of jointly have less sex. The location of these women also plays a role. 300,000 women were surveyed from 37 countries found that countries with a higher gender equality had more casual sex and more casual partners. In nations with less equality between the sexes, the opposite was true. Understanding how women's position in the household influences their sexual activity may be an essential piece in protecting the sexual rights of women and helping them to achieve a sexual life that is both safe and pleasurable.
In reading this it frustrates me. I am all for joint decision making but this study suggests that women get punished for taking control of their lives and making decisions. I would hope my confidence to make my own decisions or decisions for our household would impress my partner not the opposite. Do you think this proves that the men in this study are happier when their female partners are submissive?
